During the months of January and February I spent most of my time being sick. Started off with just a sore throat, then cough, then sinus, then all of the above together. I was miserable. There were days where I would wake up in the morning and think, “ok, I feel much better today.” Ya right, give it an hour and I was back to hack’n up a lung. I felt almost claustrophobic because I couldn’t breath, smell or taste for over a month. It’s the weirdest feeling ever. So I tried all kinds of home remedies and one made a huge difference.
I am all about going to the doctor and I am also all about boosting your body with natural vitamins and a healthy diet to help out your immune system. While being sick I took large amounts of vitamin C, juiced my greens, ate healthy(most of the time), drank tea, etc…Tried all the home remedies, but then my sweet sister in law introduced me to some Young Living Oils. Now I have used essential oils in the past and highly believe in the powers they have, but I hadn’t had any in awhile so this was so nice, plus I was trying everything I could to not have to go to the doctor. You see, there was this perfect oil for what I was going through, it’s called RC.
This small little bottle helped me feel like I could partially live again while being sick. I would take a couple drops, mix them with a carrier oil and rub it on topically onto my chest, neck and temples. I also used my handy dandy diffuser and diffused this oil a couple times a day, especially right before bed. Those nights that I did that, I slept better than any other night. I could actually breathe. Now obviously this isn’t a cure all, but it was something that helped me in the meantime. (I am now obsessed with diffusing oils!)
Fun Facts
-RC is a unique combination of 3 types of Eucalyptus, Myrtle, Marjoram, Pine, Lavender, Cypress, Black Spruce, & Peppermint.
-You can diffuse to create a comforting aroma and support respiratory function.
-Add to a carrier oil like their V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex to create a spa like, soothing atmosphere with massage.
-Rub on bottoms of feet before exercise to uplift and inspire.
-Add a few drops to a hot bath and breathe in!
I finally did go to the doctor and ended up on antibiotics, but if you are like me and try all the different home remedies first, this is definitely a good one to have in your back pocket! It’s also great if you have kids who hate taking medicine and they need to get some sleep. You can rub it on their feet before bed, make a little topical treatment for their chest and put a couple drops in the bath to relieve a congested chest and nose for a short period of time.
I ordered a whole starter kit so I got a HUGE deal on all my oils, but you can just order them by the singles as well! It’s worth it!
